ANNOUNCEMENTS - Our President, Kent Waide, has several announcements.
Kent Kruger has been approved for Membership. Trish Jordan has turned in an application. Our President is very proud of the effort our club has been doing soliciting new members. Keep up the good work!

The District Governor has extended invitations to those who are interested in future leadership roles to attend the Rotary leadership Institute in Paducah on February 9th. If you want to attend the club will pay the $85 for you. Our own Bob Burke will be attending and invites you to ride with him.

Kent brought copies of last week’s Rotary Newsletter with him for those who didn’t get the attachment. If you have trouble opening the attachments, please make Kent aware.

If you have an up coming program, but do not have a guest speaker, Kent has a Rotary DVD that can be used for an informational program.

Don’t forget to purchase your tickets to play in the Texas Holdem Tournament for School Counts! It’s sponsored by People Plus, Inc. on February 22 at 6 PM at the Hopkins County Fairgrounds. The Rotary Club has a table and James Barritt has the tickets to sell at $100 each. For more information call Ron Sanders at 825-8939. The black tie optional grand gala celebration for School Couhts! With all the glamour of Hollywood will take place Saturday, February 23 at 7 PM at the Madisonville Golf and Country Club. Tickets can be purchased for $25 per person for this event. Marion Miller, Sharon Smith, and Chaun Castleberry have tickets available to you for this. There are only 1000 Raffle tickets at $50 each for the choice of the 3 vehicles. Be sure to mark your calendar for this event!

Remember, Dr. Rhodes told us she is cautiously comfortable about reaching the goal for School Counts! There is an anonymous donor who will match all donations up to $150,000 if we get the $150,000 by June 2008. We have come too far not to reach this goal.

Bob Burke was trying to find accommodations for The GSE Team that will be in Madisonville during April. Bob said it was two young men; One is 26 and an Industrial Engineer; the other is a 30 year old who is an electrical engineer. Contact Bob Burke, for more information.

Harriett Whitaker, Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce President, invited everyone to participate in the Visioning the Future, an implementation strategies workshop presented by NewCities Institute on Wednesday, January 30 from 8 until ll:30 at the Loman C. Trover Conference Room on the 8th floor of Trover Tower. Please RSVP to 821-3435.

MADISONVILLE ROTARY HISTORY MOMENT - Our Historian, Blis Powell was not in attendance at Wednesday’s Rotary Club meeting.

PROGRAM - Doug Leasure introduced our speaker Pam Stewart. Pam is the YMCA Fitness Director. Pam stated she’s terrified of pubic speaking, however this reporter couldn’t tell that she was. Pam is very proud of the programs the YMCA offers. She offered helpful tips on how to get started and to be successful. First, talk to your Doctor and then go from there to the YMCA! Pam will help you with an exercise program that will meet your needs. It’s very important to have a partner who will hold you accountable. Do it for yourself! It’s a privilege to exercise and ultimately it’s your responsibility to keep the one body you have healthy and productive. It’s the only transportation you have to carry you through this life.
