MADISONVILLE ROTARY HISTORY MOMENT
- Our Historian, Blis Powell was in attendance at Wednesday’s
Rotary Club meeting. Blis told an old favorite story of
his about the time he was making up a Rotary meeting in
Bowling Green. This was about fifty years ago and a Rotarian
named Duncan Hines introduced him to the Bowling Green Club.
PROGRAM - Michael Hunt was responsible for
the program. Michael introduced Mary Chandler, Kitty Davis,
Carol Phebus and Jeremy Teal the adult leaders of the Jr.
Leadership Academy. The Jr. Leadership Academy was the dream
child of Michael, Mary and Kitty when they participated
in the Leadership of Hopkins County class. This is the 10th
class to participate in the Jr. Leadership Academy. The
hand picked 5th, 8th, and 11th grade students have 6 meetings
throughout the school year. After lunch, they were going
to the GE Plant. This reporter was very impressed with how
polite and knowledgeable each child was when they introduced
themselves and spoke about the different activities they
had participated in and places they had visited. I was very
proud to look upon these students and know that they are
our future leaders. Jr. Leadership Graduation will be at
the Chamber at 1 PM on March 4th. “Ask Michael Hunt
if he’s smarter than a 5th grader?”
Upcoming Programs/Events - According the
program schedule… February 13, it’s up to Michael
McCauley and Lisa Miller. We are scheduled to have a speaker
from the new Courageous Kids Camp.
