KY ROTARY NEWSLETTER FOR WEEK OF

GUESTS - Terry Childers, son
of Elsie. Alice Sanders introduced hers and Ron’s
grandchildren Will and Abby Sanderson. Alice also introduced
two employees of People Plus…Janet Fields and Candice
Owens. Danny Koeber introduced Courtney Koeber his daughter.
BIRTHDAYS / ANNIVERSARYS
/ SPECIAL EVENTS - There were no Birthdays or anniversaries
to sing about.
ANNOUNCEMENTS - President Kent Waide welcomed
Captain Steward back. Captain Steward has been seen recently
on the front page of the paper and on Television lending
a helping hand to the folks in Muhlenberg County after the
recent tornado. Kent read a thank you note from Zelma Harris,
she was expressing her gratitude to the Rotary Club for
the Rotary Football program. She stated her grandson has
a full football scholarship and he got started playing football
on a Rotary team. Honestly, that should make us all feel
honored that we are able to our part helping the youth of
Hopkins County.
President Kent Waide welcomed Trish Jordan as a new member
of the Madisonville Rotary Club.
Shane Fortner continued to pass around the Auction week
worksheet. All Rotarians are encouraged to sign up to work
at least two nights. The Auction week worksheet will keep
making its way around the club until every position is filled
for the week. Shane passed around the solicitation list
for Vendors please mark the businesses you would like to
contact. Let’s make Rotary Auction 2008 the best yet!
Let’s all do our part in contributing time and talents
to the cause. We all have a responsibility to our club.

If you have an up coming program, but do not have a guest
speaker, Kent has a Rotary DVD that can be used for an informational
program.

MADISONVILLE ROTARY HISTORY MOMENT
- Our Historian, Blis Powell was in attendance at Wednesday’s
Rotary Club meeting. Blis read an old Rotary newsletter
“Spoke Signals” from 2002.
PROGRAM - Assistant District Governor Bob
Burke introduced our District Governor, Vernon Gantt. Mr.
Gantt said, everyone in his family including children, grandchildren,
in-laws are Paul Harris Fellows. His father started this
honor and his family has continued his commitment to the
Rotary Foundation as his on going legacy. Mr. Gantt told
us about some of the programs the money we donate to The
Rotary Foundation goes to including Ambassadorial Scholarships,
the group study exchange, Polio Plus, World Peace Scholars,
matching grants Rotary to Rotary, District Simplified Grants,
Volunteer Service Grants. As you can see our district does
benefit from money sent to the foundation. The Madisonville
Rotary Club has 40 sustaining Paul Harris Fellows. (Michael
Hunt, don’t forget to make your donation the District
Governor is watching you.)
Upcoming Programs/Events - According to
the program schedule… March 5 is up to Mr. James Barritt
and Mr. John Zieba.
