ANNOUNCEMENTS
Margo Scott needs help collecting the cheer uniforms on
November 3rd. The Rotary Cheer competition will be held
at Madisonville North Hopkins High School on November 3rd
at 7 PM. Margo encourages everyone who can to attend! She
will need additional help to collect the cheer uniforms
from the girls after the competition is over. Please come
and enjoy the evening. For more information contact Margo
Scott.
When you invite someone to Rotary, be sure to give them
a brochure and an application to fill out.
We extend our deepest sympathy to fellow Rotarian Captain
Steward and to Rotarian Frank Williams. Captain Steward’s
brother recently past away and Frank’s father passed
away as well.
Mark your calendar: The Rotary Club Christmas party will
be Thursday, December 6th.
Everybody is doing great wearing your Rotary Badges during
the meeting! Keep up the new habit!
Don’t forget to turn off all cell-phones during the
meeting or set them to vibrate. I am not sure but, I think
this includes your “Blackberries” and so forth.
Please, let us have respect for our guests and speakers.
MADISONVILLE ROTARY HISTORY MOMENT
Our Historian, Bliss Powell, was in attendance. However,
he didn’t share any Rotary History Moments with us.
He needed some help from a few Rotarians who were not in
attendance. So he will hold the story for his next opportunity.
PROGRAM
MaryAnn Durban and Margo Scott were responsible for the
program. Dr. Tim Todd and LaDonna McEwen of Murray State
University were our guests. President Kent Waide made the
introduction of our speaker Dr. Tim Todd, who is originally
from Hopkins County.
Dr. Todd spoke about the Madisonville Regional Postsecondary
Education Center Capital Construction Project. This 55,000
square feet facility will be a Regional Postsecondary Education
Center located on the Madisonville Community College North
Campus. We should all be excited that KCTCS, MCC and MSU
are growing together to meet our area’s educational
needs in Kentucky. The Regional Postsecondary Education
Center will provide for the necessary expansion of classroom
and other program space for Regional Postsecondary programs
in conjunction with Murray State University on the Madisonville
Community College Campus. This new facility will serve the
growing educational needs for Postsecondary Education in
the Western Kentucky Region served by Madisonville Community
College. Currently the 2 +2 programs are scattered in 11
different locations. One centralized building on the Madisonville
Community College campus will ensure efficient delivery
of educational services to the community.
