- Blis Powell shared a history Moment with the club. According
to Blis, in 1950, the Hopkins County Hospital had no blood
bank. Fellow Rotarian and Boss to Blis, Hammon Kington,
bought a refrigerator and donated it to the hospital. Rotarians
then donated to start the blood bank here in Madisonville
PROGRAM - Rather than a program this week,
President Kent Waide led the Club in an open session. He
shared with the Club that our commitment to School Counts
will be paid out this year and we must give serious thought
to future “causes” for the Club. A list of ideas
follows:
Sports Complex * Rotary Football Complex * Sponsor Flu Shots
* Wellness Programs * Grants for Non-Profits * Review/revise
student Loan Program * Fine Arts Programs for children *
Promoting organ donation * Expend Scholarship program *
Partner with Trover and others for Health Education for
youth * Support Hopkins County-Madisonville Library * Water
Park * Halloween Painting Contest
Kent asked all members to send him an email with any additional
suggestions or thoughts, rucoblox@bellsouth.net
In the spring, President-elect, Bill Tandy will lead the
Club in a planning session to select and formalize future
plans.
