EVENTS - There were no birthdays or anniversaries!
ANNOUNCEMENTS - Ron Sanders announced there
would be a Texas Holdem Tournament for School Counts! It’s
sponsored by People Plus, Inc. on February 22 at 6 PM at
the Hopkins County Fairgrounds. Sponsors and table sponsors
are needed. Two sponsorships remain at $1,000 each, TABLE
Sponsors $100 each. Call 825-8939 for more information.
The black tie optional grand gala celebration for School
Couhts! With all the glamour of Hollywood will take place
Saturday, February 23 at 7 PM at the Madisonville Golf and
Country Club. Tickets can be purchased for $25 per person
for this event. Be sure to mark your calendar for this event!
When you invite someone to Rotary, be sure to give them
a brochure and an application to fill out.
Mark your calendar: The Rotary Club Christmas party will
be Thursday, December 6th. There was a sign up sheet going
around. The party will be held at Fortner Gas, social 6:00
to 7:00, our DJ will start at 6 and play until 10. The charge
will be $20 per couple and you will be billed on your monthly
statement. The menu is appetizers and there will be a cash
bar. Reservations must be confirmed by November 30. If you
were not at today’s meeting and can’t be at
next week’s meeting to sign up, contact Marcy and
she’ll add your name to the list.
Jayne Barton announced the Rotary President and President-elect
will be in the Christmas Parade on December 15th at 2 PM.
Riding in style in Larry Smith’s classic car, following
the car will be the Rotary Football players and cheerleaders.
Jayne needs 6 Rotarians to walk along the parade route and
hand out Rotary Brochures. Please contact Jayne for more
information.
Everybody is doing great wearing your Rotary Badges during
the meeting! Keep up the new habit!
Don’t forget to turn off all cell-phones during the
meeting or set them to vibrate. I am not sure but, I think
this includes your “Blackberries” and so forth.

MADISONVILLE ROTARY HISTORY MOMENT
- Our Historian, Bliss Powell, was not in attendance.
PROGRAM - Ronnie Fox and Alice Sanders were
responsible for the program. Tim Dukes and J.W. Durst, Director
of Trover Health System Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation
were our special guests. J.W. spoke about the Weight Loss
and Fitness Challenge that is now in progress with 5 teams
from the Madisonville Area Manufacturer’s Association.
Did you realize anything over 30 pounds is overweight for
a 5’4 person. In 2005, 30 percent of Kentucky’s
population was considered to be overweight. The Trover Health
System will offer an 8 week Challenge beginning January
7, 2008. For more information call 821-3454.
