MADISONVILLE ROTARY HISTORY MOMENT
- Our Historian, Bliss Powell, was in attendance, but didn’t
have a senior moment that wanted to share with the club.
PROGRAM - We had two programs for Wednesday’s
meeting. First, Jane Ann Jackson from the Bicentennial Committee
took time to thank the notables who for the past 11 and
½ months have made appearances in the community.
Rotarians who have participated include Bob Burke, Sharon
Smith, Dr. Morris Yates and Daron Jordan. Jane Ann wanted
to say special thanks to her boss Rotarian Steve Cox who
was not in attendance and her co-workers for picking up
the slack for her. Jane Ann introduced Charlie Kington as
notable Madisonville Mayor Peewee Parrish. Charlie’s
portrayal was wonderful. Mayor Parrish thanked Jane Ann
for conjuring him up from Odd Fellows where his moment says
he was born on November 28, 1899 and died on March 14, 1987,
he was 87. Peewee was elected 7 times and served our city
from 1946 until 1974.
Our second program was presented by Murray State University.
Dr. Susan Eddings introduced Susan Ohanian a resident of
Vermont. Ms. Ohanian spoke her opinion on “No Child
Left Behind”.
Upcoming Programs/Events - We will not
have a meeting Wednesday, December 5
